Instructor Terms and Conditions

As a driving instructor working with Droober Ltd, you are expected to uphold professional standards and adhere to UK laws and best practices.


Professional Conduct

Instructors must:

  • Demonstrate a high regard for road safety and uphold a high standard of driving and instructional ability.

  • Adopt a professional approach to customers and show a responsible attitude at all times.

  • Display their ADI registration certificate or trainee licence prominently while conducting lessons.

  • Maintain the standards set out in the National Standard for Driver and Rider Training.

  • Comply with all legal obligations, including anti-discrimination laws and data protection regulations.

  • Refrain from using mobile phones or similar devices when supervising or conducting lessons, except when safely parked.

  • Avoid inappropriate language, conduct, or discussions with pupils.

  • Respect pupil confidentiality, except when safeguarding concerns arise.

  • Keep up to date with current legislation, DVSA guidelines, and instructional practices.

  • Use social media professionally and responsibly:

    • Do not disclose pupils’ personal information.

    • Ensure compliance with digital marketing laws.

    • Avoid defamation of colleagues, DVSA, or other stakeholders.

    • Do not share footage of driving tests without prior written consent from both the DVSA and the pupil.

Business Practices

Instructors must:

  • Inform pupils of their terms of business on or after the first lesson, including:

    • Instructor’s legal name, address, and contact details.

    • Lesson duration and cancellation policies.

    • Refund conditions.

    • Complaints procedure.

  • Check each pupil’s provisional licence and eyesight on the first lesson.

  • Keep a written or digital record of the pupil’s training progress.

  • Offer honest advice regarding test readiness and support pupils through the booking process.

  • Do not cancel or rearrange a test without the pupil’s consent. If the instructor decides the school car is not available for the test, the pupil must be informed with sufficient notice.

  • Ensure the tuition vehicle is roadworthy, properly insured, fitted with dual controls, and complies with DVSA test requirements.

Complaints and Disputes

  • All complaints should first be addressed to Droober Ltd.

  • If a resolution cannot be reached:

    • Business-related issues may be taken to Citizens' Advice.
