10 hours: Refresher / Re-test — From £650.
Perfect if you already have some driving experience: you might just need focused refresher lessons before your test. Ideal if you feel nearly test-ready but want confidence on the road, manoeuvres you find difficult, or revision before retaking.

20 hours: Confidence builder
Designed for learners who have a few hours’ experience but want a more structured push. Over several days, you’ll work through weaknesses—parallel parking, emergency stops, and independent driving—and begin to build speed and consistency.

30 hours: Intermediate learner
If you want steady progress, this option spreads training over a longer period with plenty of driving time. You’ll get more practice in different traffic conditions, daytime & possibly some night sessions (if required), plus mock-tests under test conditions.

40 hours: Beginner pathway
For those starting from scratch or with very little experience. This gives you enough time to cover the full syllabus, build core skills, correct bad habits, gain confidence on busier roads, and prepare well for your practical test.

48 hours: Full beginner course
The most comprehensive option: great if you prefer immersion, want to learn in a shorter calendar period, or have minimal prior driving. Everything from basics to advanced skills is included, including multiple mock tests, so you’re very well prepared.

What’s included?

Every course is designed so that by the time you finish, you’re not only test-ready but also confident, safe, and able to handle the driving challenges around Reading and Berkshire. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • One-to-one DVSA-registered instructor.
You’ll always be taught by someone fully qualified and approved by the DVSA. They know the official driving test requirements inside out, and they’re committed to helping you pass, not just ticking boxes.

  • Manual or automatic vehicles (if you offer both).
Whether you prefer learning in a manual or automatic car, we have instructors and vehicles for your choice. If you lean towards manual, you'll get clutch control, hill starts, and gear changes fully covered. For automatic, we'll focus more on road awareness, manoeuvres, and independent driving.

  • Mock practical test & examiner-style feedback.
You’ll get at least one mock test performed under conditions similar to those of the Reading DVSA test centre: same route types if possible, same time restrictions. After this, we’ll give you detailed feedback, pinpointing strengths and areas to improve.

  • Practical test booking support, where possible.
We'll assist you in arranging your practical test date. While actual slots depend on DVSA availability, we’ll do our best to secure you one close to the end of your training so that your learning momentum carries through.

  • Daily pick-up & drop-off in Reading and selected RG postcodes.
No need to worry about transport: we can collect you from home (within agreed areas) and drop you back after lessons. Saves time and stress—so you can focus entirely on learning.

  • Theory test materials and tips (if needed).
If you haven’t passed your theory test yet (or want a refresher), we provide access to sample questions, hazard perception training, and coaching. We ensure you have everything you need to get through theory first so you can concentrate fully on practical work.

How the intensive course works (simple 3-step)

We’ve streamlined the process so you always know what to expect. Here’s how your journey will typically unfold:

  1. Choose a course: Select the hours you need.
We’ll help you decide which duration suits your starting level: whether it’s just polishing skills (10-20 hrs) or full foundation learning (40-48 hrs). Once selected, pick your preferred dates, and we’ll map out a schedule.

  2. We match an instructor: A local ADI who knows Reading test routes.
You'll be paired with one of our qualified instructors familiar with Reading’s roads, common test routes and local trick spots. They know examiner expectations, typical hazards in and around Reading, and can tailor tuition accordingly.

  3. Train & test: Focused daily lessons, mock test, then practical test.
You’ll undertake a series of daily lessons packed with practice: manoeuvres, independent driving, mock test(s). As you progress, your instructor will adjust the pace. Once ready, we’ll arrange the practical test (or assist with booking), so you go from first lesson to test-ready without gaps.

Why choose Droober in Reading?

You’ll find many intensive driving providers, but here’s what sets Droober apart. Our point of difference is local expertise + flexibility + transparency.

  • Local instructors who know the Reading test routes and examiners’ common focus points.
This means you won’t be blindsided by tricky local junctions, confusing signs, busy roads at certain times, or examiners’ favourite failure points – we’ll ensure you are ready for all of it.

  • Flexible dates: short courses from a few days to several weeks.
We know people’s schedules vary, so whether you're booking with a few days' lead time or weeks ahead, we aim to have slots that suit you. We also offer both weekday and weekend availability where possible.

  • Transparent pricing and fast booking options — no hidden extras.
All tuition, vehicle use, and instructor time are included in your quoted price. No unexpected “extras” at the end. Once you’ve chosen your package, the price is fixed. What you see is what you pay.

  • Pick-up & drop-off across Reading (RG1–RG31) and surrounding towns.
We cover all the RG postcodes (RG1, RG2, RG4, RG5, etc.) plus nearby towns such as Tilehurst, Caversham, Earley, Woodley, and Wokingham. That means less travel time for you, more lesson time.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the questions people ask most often. If yours isn’t here, let us know — we’ll be glad to help.

  • How long will it take to pass with an intensive course?
It depends on how much driving experience you already have, how comfortable you are behind the wheel, and how often you can commit to lessons. For someone with a little experience, an intensive course could take as little as one week. For complete beginners, it might be two or more weeks of full-day lessons to be test-ready.

  • Do you include a practical test?
Yes — where possible, we’ll arrange a practical test as part of your course or immediately after you’ve finished lessons. Test availability depends on DVSA slots in Reading, so it’s best to book early and stay in touch with us.

  • Can you pick me up from home?
Yes — we offer daily pick-up & drop-off within Reading and selected RG postcodes. We’ll agree on a convenient meeting point or home address depending on your postcode. If you’re further out, we can discuss options.

  • Do you teach in automatic cars?
Yes — we provide both manual and automatic tuition. If you prefer automatic, let us know when you book so we can ensure a suitable car and instructor are available.

  • What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand things happen. If you need to cancel or move your lessons, we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Please contact us as soon as possible. Cancellation policies may apply depending on how close to your lesson/test the change is.

  • What if I’m nervous or haven’t driven before?
No problem — many of our students start with little or no driving experience. We’ll begin with basics (steering, clutch control or auto operation, road positioning, etc.), build up at your pace and give continuous support and encouragement.
